GET’s purposes are inspired to the Italian Trekking Federation (FIE)’s ones: walking, hiking, trekking, mountain bike activities, and more climbing, mountaneering and canyoning (which lately were introduced inside our own calendar of activities), are carried out to involve and stimulate both trekkers and residents, helping integration and environmental care and developing a truly sustainable tourism.

GET is active the whole year round in organising excursions, holding seminars and campaigns to make public institutions and schools aware of environmental issues in the Cilento and the nearby metropolitan areas.

The calendar of the activities gives the chance both to the associated and non associated to get knowledges of the Cilento National Park territory, the Mingardo Valley and the Cervati Massif.

Single days and weekends are organised in other Parks and protect areas.

G.E.T. CULTNATURA’s guides - Excursions are guided directly by the GET’s Associated who have the deepest knowledge and experience of their territory; some of them are guides of the F.I.E..

G.E.T. CULTNATURA’s initiatives. The extremely various areas which compose the Cilento National Park offer more and more opportunity to experience different landscapes and realities.

GET’s seat is located in the Park’s very centre in relation with the coast (Costa della Masseta, seaside resorts of Scario, Palinuro e Marina di Camerota) and the National Park’s highest peaks (Massiccio del Cervati). Both seaside resorts and the Cervati Massif are reachable in ½ h by car. Some of the paths, which G.E.T. selected for the excursions, include the most impressive and interesting coasts of the whole Mediterranean Sea.

The programs that yearly come proposals, offer to the participant several possibilities living strong emotions, practising these activities from walking to hiking… to canyoning. Collaboration is offered also to schools, supporting them to organise discovery programs about our National Park territory and living in tranquillity, students and teachers, spending some hours discovering the natural environment.

Strong emotions....

Can it be defined such the emotion felt by the participants to an organised winter field in the Campolongo Valley, with tents on the snow and sleeping bags, when at the field's borders, at about 21,30, arrived 4 wolfs (two adults and two cubs approached themselves), remaining there more than 10 minutes? Can it be defined such a travel with a dinghy to the discovery of the Forra of the Emmisi, dug from the Mingardo River on the rocks to the doors of Rofrano? Can it be defined such the ascension to the tops of the Park, getting lost in the sea of light or being hypnotised by 360° panoramas or remaining carried off from the colours of the sunset?

The flowering of orchids, carsismous phenomena, secular trees, finding again your own thoughts on wings of the Hush of the wind, the blinding colours of paths find again along the coasts of Tirreno Sea.... making you lose the cognition of the time during a climb test...

If you have a little bit of patience and few minutes, you can try to read what Stefania De Luca has written from Naples, living this kind of experience with us. (2005, Winter)

"An activity for who wants to compare himself and his own limits is, for instance, to climb. A 6 metres high rock wall can be enough, a rope and an experienced and organised group that can transmit you a feeling you can be able to carry out 'heroic deeds', that you can do it!

For the skilled climbers a mountain is a personal challenge, something intimate. Climbing and descenting with the only strengths of the legs and the arms, is a rite that sees as only protagonists the man and the rock. When the climber, slung once, begins to climb, starts to know the mountain, he studies it, touching, he looks for some firm grips, even if they are hidden, because they are fundamental to let him to be able to go on it. He climbs with calmness, without hurry but with carefulness; who looks at him can see him cold, calm, almost uninterested but, inside, it quivers; the desire to reach the top is great; he would like to race, he cannot wait to arrive on the summit of the in peak and to win this new challenge, 'to shout' on the wings of the wind his "sense of freedom’. When he trains himself, he learns to memorise the wall that he climbs, he remembers the its weak points, the useful ones, his gestures become mechanical, sure.

But every day is different from the previous; a rolling down rock forces the climber to invent a new path. The wall changes and now he has to discover the new 'steps' that the mountain can offers. The first things that the guides teach you in order to be able to face a wall, small or great that it can be,are that it needs to establish a trustworthy relationship with the rope. Because it is the rope that sustains you. The rope must be treated very well, not stamped on at all, always taking care of it, holding it under good conditions. It’s forbidden to become distracted and if something does not convince us, we can also abdicate… at least the world doesn't fall! As it regards me, I have to say that trust is not delay to arrive. It has been enough to look at the organisation, the equipment and the eyes full of love for this sport of a certain Luciano! For an association that develops this kind of activity is important to present the team sure, with a good organisation, with the proper logo well in sight on the whole equipment, so that becomes natural to gain trust in it and to leave ourselves to be driven in an enterprise that, unfortunately, doesn't happen to the 'normal' people every day to be realised! It had happened to me a day. I climbed and I went down for a wall of 6 meters and, after that, I went down for another 25 metres high! Maybe it wasn’t nothing exspecial but when people return in the city, how many of us can say to have done the same? To have felt so strong this sense of freedom and 'powerful'!?!"
